Creative Capitals

KEVIN LEE, CREATIVE DIRECTOR AT SPOON, PARTAKES AS A PANEL MEMBER FOR MEDIACORP RADIO'S PROGRAMME "CAMPUS ON NEWSRADIO93.8". THE LIVE RADIO PROGRAMME WAS HELD AT RAFFLES JUNIOR COLLEGE.

The theme and topic of discussion was derived from Richard Florida's new book - "The Flight of the Creative Class: The New Global Competition for Talent". Richard also wrote "The Rise of the Creative Class: And How It's Transforming Work, Leisure, Community and Everyday Life". He says the "most successful places" are the ones that combine all "three T's" tolerance, talent and technology. Areas that welcome ethnic minorities and immigrants enjoy thriving economies.

The big question: Can Singapore adapt and change with the times?

The hour long live radio programme involved the panel sharing their thoughts on the topic followed by a question and answer session with Raffles Junior College students.

Kevin introduced a "fourth T" Taste in addition to discussions on the notion of Tolerance. He suggested developing and aquiring a wider taste and appreciation for things that may be unfamiliar. In response to questions, Kevin also defined Creativity as an active and inspired choice made from available options. Creativity exists in the simplest and most daily of choices and serves as an input. The output is something new and innovative.
